The obvious exemption is having no stock posts to time-stamp in the first place. Other than that, well it’s pretty much safe to say that time-stamp is really the coolest feature that I love about wordpress. For newbies, you might ask, how does time-stamping work in the first place? Pretty much easy. Above the publish button is the date of your publishing, just set the date to the one you want and you’re done!
Why I Love Wordpress Time-stamp
For posting frequency reasons, I time-stamp posts at least a day before it’s supposed to come out. It’s a form of security to ensure that even if you can’t go online, you’re still assured that the blog won’t be left un-updated even in your absence. In cases wherein you’re blog needs frequent update (for example if it’s in technology niche) time-stamping is the best way to go.
Why Sometimes I Fail in Time-stamping
If you’re keen enough, you might have noticed that this blog has been left un-updated for like 4-5 days in a row now (as opposed to the cool daily updates that you’re been receiving). The story is, I’ve been technically away for about 10 days or so for really important reasons. I don’t want the hassle of announcing a leave of something so I just went about the time-stamping trick in an effort to update this blog even with my absence.
Uncooly enough, I’ve only time-stamped about 5 articles hoping that I could make the extra on the rare free periods that I have while I’m away. Unfortunately, the worst of the worst possible case scenario has happened as the hotel I stayed on has crappy-to-nonworking wifi connection. I bet the hotel frontdesk got tired f me asking the same question about their wifi getting fixed every other day. But oh well, we just have to accept- stuff like that really happens.
In conclusion, pardon me for the unprecedented mistake of not updating. Back on the original schedule now.
How to make wordpress time-stamping feature work for you
If you don’t have the desire or the financial backing to buy yourself a wordpress robot (if you don’t know what this is well that’s another entire story to tell), wordpres time-stamping might be just the perfect cheapskate substitute.
All you need to do is to write tons and tons of posts in stock (I know, easy for me to say but actually it’s hard already as it is). The key is to have them ready for publish on your blog even without your daily online routine. It’s a one time-set up trick (though of course you’ll need to time-stamp another batch of posts sooner or later).
The thing is, time-stamping is a solution to our forever problem of updating. And the good news is it already comes free with every wordpress versions downloadable. Happy posting bloggers!
